Australian Problemists

Contemporary Chess Problem Composers

Australia has a fine tradition of chess problem composition that continues in the active problem scene of today. Of our contemporary problem composers, the most prominent ones are represented in the following pieces, written (with a couple of exceptions) by the problemists themselves. These articles provide some background information and a “chess biography” for each subject, giving some of his main accomplishments in the field. Then the composer presents a number of his best or representative problems, followed by their solutions and comments.

Some of the problems cited are of the less conventional types, such as the series-movers – refer to the Problem World articles for an explanation of these and other problem genres.
